Established in 2023, family-run HALCYON Collection is a group of people with the same goal, thanks to the know-how in customer management and the passion for hospitality of its founders it embraces the only passion in common.

The term is often used to refer to an idyllic and serene period of the past, evoking a sense of nostalgia that refers to the very etymology of the name and its semantics: halcyon means in Greek that nests in the sea, with reference to a famous bird of the Alcedinidae family, which derives from the common kingfisher or European kingfisher.
The common name of the bird derives from Alcyone, a character from Greek mythology, whose sad legend is narrated by Ovid in the Metamorphoses. A special couple existed some time ago: she was Alcyone, daughter of Aeolus, the king of the winds, he was Ceyx, son of Lucifer (understood in ancient times as Venus, the morning star). The couple lived in great serenity, but had a strange and dangerous habit: the spouses cultivated the habit of calling each other by the names of Zeus and Hera. Obviously the gods did not like this affront, so much so that Jupiter decided to punish the spouses. One day Ceyx embarked on a sea voyage, but Jupiter unleashed a violent storm, which caused the ship to sink and the entire crew drowned. Alcyone prayed every day to Hera for her husband’s return, so much so that the goddess, moved with compassion, granted Alcyone’s request to have his body found in the sea. Alcyone, in desperation, threw herself off a rock, but was transformed into a sea bird, an animal that spends its time observing the sea, almost waiting for the return of her beloved husband. So here comes the reference to the bird and to that feeling of nostalgic poetry, forever nestled between sea and sky.
The two lines, which do not cross or converge, are the two protagonists and almost create two arches of our internal architecture in the trulli, to the point of freeing the imagination in a beak, which recalls that of the bird to which the first name. The perception of the transversal cut, which runs through the entire logo, is a reference to the evanescent feeling of the story of Alcione, which traces a clear ambiguity between past and present, between the origin and the evolution, both of the feeling and of the the architecture of the houses.
Therefore today Halcyon is the name of our company and embraces all its linguistic uses: the adjective, which in English is synonymous with joyful, and the noun, which in its common and proper meaning, evokes a sense of sweet nostalgia. The reverberation of this semantics is in the soul of this project, which unites the past of the homes with their luminous evolution in the present.
